PROJECT INFORMATION
Alice: Asylum was a proof of concept, large-scale, AAA potential video game project. Alex was integral in the pre-production and creative vision for this project.
Created by legendary videogame designer American McGee (Doom, Doom II, Quake), it was billed as the third potential video game in American McGee’s Alice series. (American McGee’s Alice released 2000, and Alice: Madness Returns released 2011).
Working alongside American and his projects for years, Alex was one of the first designers engaged on the Alice: Asylum pre-production team. Starting off as a member of the core creative team, Alex progressed to become the lead designer for the game’s core presentation document, the Design Bible.
He handled all graphic design, branding, and pitch presentations for the project, working closely alongside the Game Director and other art team members on the project.
Alex was also heavily involved in project management, narrative structure, game design, weapon + enemy encounter design, internal art direction, art task briefings, and workflow systems. Alex was also a physical merchandise specialist on the project, changing his working hat consistently within the team to meet the needs of the project as they arose.
Unfortunately, despite world-wide fan support and excitement, Alice: Asylum was unsuccessful in seeking approx $50 Million USD of funding and backing for development, to turn Alice: Asylum into a fully-fledged AAA video game release.
The documents Alex designed for the project were presented to Netflix, Amazon, Apple, EA Games and various other large video game publishers around the world.
